Hatchet Lake Isle Royale
Isle Royale National Park is an anglers paradise.
Hatchet lake isle royale. From November 1 - April 15 annually Isle Royale and its surrounding islands are closed to all visitors. Recently returned from an 8 day backpacking trip on Isle Royale National Park. When we got to Hatchet Lake June 30 it was after we had just hiked a good part of the day in a thunderstorm.

All islands reopen April 16. This is the Day 5 where we hike from Todd Harbor to South Lake Desor in 117 miles. Whether you are fishing Lake Superior or the inland lakes by boat canoe kayak or foot there is exciting sport fishing to be found.

Rock Harbor Daisy Farm McCargo Cove Hatchet Lake. There are no roads on the island a wilderness area and national park so the trail doubles as the primary means. Although Hatchet Lake is a decent-sized lake it cannot compete with the immensity of Lake Desor.
